NHL may host a party at the Palms Las Vegas hotel. The National Hockey League is hoping their annual awards show could go Vegas, therefore, a lot more press and news coverage for the sports franchise.
The entertainment capital of the world would help with allure of their season-ending festivities. Similar to the Consumer Electronic Show, or any other large event in Las Vegas, Nevada, NHL’s 30 team personnel, media and sponsors would visit the city. Something the Las Vegas Visitor’s Authority would also enjoy at this time during the decline of visitors.
On January 1, 2009 The Winter Classic this past week drew 40,818 fans to witness Chicago Blackhawks vs Detroit Red Wings in Chicago. The Red Wings won 6 – 4. This event has shown in recent years that it can attract a large sporting audience.
The NHL award’s show is currently listed as TBA, therefore, the venue for the Las Vegas event hasn’t been finalized. Typically, the date is in June after the Stanley Cup final and before the entry draft.

Moving the awards show to Las Vegas from Toronto is the hope of the league for more sponsors. The awards show is usually held in June.
